here’s what we’ll discuss each week

 

Week 1 - How to get started

In this first week, we will talk about your intention for the program in order to mentally prepare for the sugar detox. We will also learn a breathing technique to help you relax so that you can incorporate it into your daily tasks.

We will also discuss the Yes food list and No food list and where to go for quick and easy recipes. You will be able to join an online Facebook group so that you have better access to other participants’ support, recipes and encouragement.

 

Week 2 - how digestion works

During the second week of the program is when the actual sugar elimination begins. This second class we will make sure you’re ready for the sugar detox and hopefully you’ve made a grocery run to ensure you have the right foods at home. We’ll also discuss Digestion; how it’s supposed to work and what can go wrong. You’ll learn why having a healthy digestion is key to achieving long-term health and vitality.

 

Week 3 - Sugar regulation

During this 3rd class, we dive into all the ways sugar impacts the body. You’ll learn what to look out for on food labels and the way food marketers can trick you with all the ways they’ve relabeled sugar. We’ll discuss what healthy blood sugar should look like and how unbalanced meals keep you on a sugar rollercoaster that robs you of energy, keeps you tired, cranky and begging for more sugar. Learning to balance meals is the greatest takeaway of this class.

 

 

Week 4 - Healthy Fats

During this 4th class, we discuss Fats and the phobia around consuming them. We will go over the good, the bad and the ugly surrounding the controversy of fats and oils. Which are better suited for high heat, which are better raw and which ones to avoid altogether. We will also talk about cholesterol and the role it plays in the body. You will not be afraid to eat animal fats after this class.

 

Week 5 - How to move forward

We’ll discuss how to move forward after eliminating sugar for 21 days. Some participants decide to extend the sugar detox on their own; others learn to add natural sugars in a balanced way. You’ll be better equipped to make better decisions about how you feed your body. Remember, there is no ONE perfect diet for everyone; we’re all different and have different needs.

During the last class, participants may bring in snacks using recipes they learned to make over the last few weeks that helped them reduce sugar cravings. It’s a way for the group to celebrate the 5 weeks of learning and keep the momentum going. Some participants even decide they’re signing up for a second round of RESTART®.

Melissa has been teaching RESTART for about 7 years now and finds that it's a great way to help the community change the way they think about sugar and how it impacts their overall health and vitality. She’s worked in a clinical setting, helping patients there lose weight and balance blood sugar for overall strong metabolic health. She’s seen the powerful changes that can happen when added & processed sugars are taken out of the diet. Pre-diabetics have the chance to stop the progression of their symptoms in order to avoid a more serious diagnosis.

This program goes beyond helping you reduce sugar cravings, it’s learning that everything’s a choice. With every bite, you’re either promoting health or feeding disease. You have the power to turn your health around, all it takes is learning the right tools so that small changes in habits create big changes in health and longevity.

 

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • Usually there are 10-12 people in each group

  • If for some reason, you are unable to attend a class, you will receive all written material and handouts by email. You are also allowed a 15-minute call with the instructor to ask any questions about the information provided.

  • Only paid participants may join and participate in the class.

  • Remember to consult with your doctor about changes you plan to make with your diet; the instructor is not allowed to discuss any medical personal information with you.
